Rachel is a co- owner and founder of Opal & Onyx Hair Co. and specializes in color, extensions, and bridal styling.

Rachel is a stylist with 17 years of experience behind the chair. Her passion for doing hair started when she was just 6 years old, and from there she graduated from cosmetology school even before she finished high school.

“I am a Michigan native but have a southern heart! I love Jesus and give thanks to Him in all things. I’ve been married to my best friend for 16 years and am a bio, foster, and adoptive mama. We live on a homestead with a lot of animals and our 4 kids. I love working in the city and living in the country!”

“I strive to give my clients a relaxing, luxurious appointment while creating a meaningful relationship. I cherish each and every one of them! I love giving women a confidence boost physically and mentally. I believe everyone deserves to feel good about themselves and I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader while giving you amazing hair!”

OWNER/STYLIST

Clara is a co-owner of Opal & Onyx. She is a colorist who specializes in color corrections, blonding services, and natural color theory. She is also experienced in cutting, hand-tied extensions, and event & bridal styling.

“I fell in love with the industry when I was 11 years old. My dad is a sculptor, my mom was a painter, and my neighbor across the street owned a hair salon. Creativity is in my DNA and hair is my medium. It is my outlet and my passion.

“Aside from the artistry, human connection is the greatest blessing of my career. To connect with my clients on a personal level, all while instilling confidence to face the day with a fresh look (and outlook) is the greatest reward.”

Clara has styled in New York Fashion Week 2020 and is a certified vendor for bridal styling on Zola.com.

STYLIST

Tiffany is our newest stylist who is also new to the Winston Salem area. Originally from Miami, FL, she is passionate about learning the industry and growing her clientele as she makes North Carolina home.

Tiffany has a degree in Fashion Design which sparked her passion for styling. This creativity and love for design has led Tiffany to the hair industry.

When she is not at the salon, Tiffany enjoys being home and spending time with her family and dogs, Loki and Mimi.

“I love to watch action and comedy movies, and I am a big romance book girly, so you’ll also catch me reading.”

During her time as the salon apprentice, Tiffany’s books will be open to all cutting and coloring services.

STYLIST

Madi specializes in blondes, special events hair and makeup, vivid colors, sew-in extensions, and curly cuts.

“While I absolutely have a passion for hair, I also have a huge passion for people. My clents are deeply loved and oh so special to me. I always look forward to the visits we share while they are in my chair. I’m ecstatic about this new opportunity to grow my career and I look forward to the new amazing people I will have the privilege of meeting in my chair.”

Outside of hair, Madi is a wife to a touring musician and a mom to her six year old, Indie Rose. As a family they love traveling, exploring in nature, silly dancing, and a good nap.

STYLIST

Jerri is a Winston-Salem native and has been behind the chair for 3 years. She is a color enthusiast, and loves all things blonde, brunettes, and lived in color.

When she isn’t working, you can find her with her fiancé and long haired, mini dachshund!

Missy has over 8 years of experience in the hair industry and is a dedicated and skilled hair stylist with a passion for helping clients look and feel their best.

Missy specializes in wig styling and cutting, extensions, natural lived in color, bridal styling, and has a natural affinity for cutting children’s hair - particularly those with autism.

“My goal is to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all of my clients. Providing personalized and high-quality services tailored to their unique needs.”

STYLIST

Cierra is a Winston-Salem native with 9 years of experience behind the chair. Cierra’s love for the hair salon started when she was young, tagging along to her nanny’s hair appointments.

“I love engaging with my clients, making people feel comfortable and safe while sitting in my chair. It is truly a passion of mine!”

Cierra’s passion behind the chair is all things brunettes, blondes, and lived-in colors.

“When I am not at the salon you’ll always find me with my little fam. I am a mama to a beautiful, almost 2 year old, little girl named Harlow Tatum!”

Her hobbies include being adventurous with her family, riding sxs together in their free time, and grabbing Mexican food with the girls!

“I always strive to give a relaxing service where we can chat about life together. I look forward to seeing you in my chair friends!”

STYLIST

Macey is initially from King, NC but has lived in Winston for several years now. She is 28 years old, and started her journey behind the chair at 20. 

Macey has specialized in blonding, color, and cut her entire career. She treats no two heads of hair the same, and makes sure to uniquely tailor each service to each client.

“You’ll have a full experience at every appointment, including an in-depth consultation where we discuss how to meet your hair goals while keeping your hair as healthy as possible.”

“My chair will always be a safe space for each of my guests. My hope is that every client feels comfortable and at ease in my chair, knowing they can fully trust me to take care of them!”

“Aside from being passionate about doing hair and the beauty industry, I am a lover of Christ first and foremost, and my family is the closest second. I am married for a year and a half to my husband, John. Together we have a 4 month old son, Mikey, and two doggies, Gus & Scuba Steve. I love to read fantasy romance books, obsessed with Halloween & all things spooky, enjoy cooking and a glass of red wine, and put all of my love and effort into raising my little boy Mikey.
